P R O V I D E N C E
Years ago my family went for a month long road trip to New Zealand. We stayed briefly at a two story (service apartment like) town house. I remember telling my mum about how much I liked it. It was a cozy two story house with bedrooms upstairs and a nice lounge, dining and kitchen downstairs. Apparently I was raving about it for days afterwards according to mum...who still remembers it ~ten years later.
The month of October 2014 will be remembered as one of the defining moments of my life. I had been in a bit of a rut. Jobsearch failed. Havent been out with friends in ages. Neglected my bros. Some acute psychosocial stressor I cant talk about. I was getting depressed.

How To Study Medicine (v2013)
I have gotten it all wrong all along.
Medicine can be a bottomless pit of information. (cue: UpToDate, Harrisons, Last's)
But take a step back, and with the right frame of mind it is not too difficult.
(this article supersedes what I wrote in 2010 as a medical student)

Them Newfangled Internets
What has this newfangled internets done to me? I watch the tubes all day and read random interesting stories seeking instant gratification. Then there's the ever present temptation of appreciating the natural beauty of crustaceans, again, freely and readily available on the tubes (meta!).
I could not recall the last time I sat down and just read a book. Getting lost in thought. Thinking rather than seeking that fleeting endorphin rush.
Think TV generation, taken to the next level.
It is established that TV makes kids stupid. The simple reality is that TV replaces reading.
Reading involves thinking. Nowadays, we prefer to be fed a constant stream of information in place of reading.
Reading involves more depth of thought than television.
Problem is, television makes reading uninteresting.
What about this newfangled internets?
It's a double edged sword. The same internets that gave life to this blog is the internets that is making me stupid.
I need to read.
...after I watch this really cool series on the tubes and catch up on the latest user posted links on reddit.
FML.

The Life of Ezra
A recent unexpected turn of events have made me realize just how far I've come in this journey called life.
I first watched Life of Pi in April. I didnt think much of it at the time, but the story has a very deep message that grew and resonated with me over time. I just rewatched it in full HD glory (the bluray is out guys!)
This is an amazingly good movie. I rate it better than Forrest Gump.
(SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE FILM)

Nujabes - Luv(Sic) All Six Parts
(sic) = The Latin adverb sic – meaning “intentionally so written” is used for misspelled words. In this case, Love = Luv, thus Lovesick = Luv(sic)
Nujabes (1974-2010) is a japanese DJ who is massively underrated. This six piece compilation is one of the best musical productions I have ever heard - I rate it on par with Bohemian Rhapsody. Parts 4-6 were released posthumously. Turn up your speakers. You will melt. Full lyrics after the break. Remember to turn on HD. I cant find the complete lyrics anywhere, so in this post is a full compilation, including some background into the song.
Below is a repost on the history of the song from Shingo, the rapper who did the lyrics for the mix, narrated by marcus-d@tumblr.
